The Minions: Mini crochet bag
My nephew loves the Minions (Amazon link) so it wasn’t hard to get an idea for a Christmas gift for the little man. The bag is a very simple project which makes a quick and fun project for an evening. I’m sure that it would be a nice beginner’s project, too!
I’ve made some little changes by doing one more round in blue and two more rounds in yellow. I liked the Minion to be a bit longer. I’ve also made the google strap while doing the bag. Meaning no separate strap to sew on, less ends to weave in! For the bag strap I did 81 chains so I had 80 sc in each row. Nice length for this cute little bag.

Material used:
- Gründl King Cotton (Amazon link) in Zitrone (Yellow), Schwarz (Black), Royalblau (Blue) and Weiß (White)
Cute bunny house slippers
When my grandma visits us she always needs a pair of socks or slippers as she always has cold feet. She usually takes my kitty slippers (Amazon link) when she’s here. So it’s about time that granny gets her own cute slippers!

Material used:
- Woll Butt Primo Emily in Ocker
- Woll Butt Lisa in Rose (Pink), Schwarz (Black) and Lila (Purple)
- Sock-Stop (Amazon link) in pink
I did the first sole of the slippers using a 4.0 mm (G) hook as mentioned in the pattern. This should have fit size 9 but came out to be size 6 which would fit my feet but not my grandma’s feet! My problem with always crocheting way too tight. I went up two hook sizes meaning 5.0 mm (H) instead of 4.0 mm (G) and this turned out to be size 9, yay!
Chunky newsboy hat and fingerless mittens
My mom fell in love with the newsboy hat I made using Lumio yarn. Instead of translating the pattern into German I crocheted the chunky version for her so that she didn’t need to buy any bulky yarn. As one skein of Alaska River wasn’t enough for doing the hat I needed to buy a second skein. As I didn’t want to feed my giant stash I thought that a pair of mittens would make a nice set.

Material used:
- Four Seasons Gründl Alaska River (Amazon link) in 11 Raspberry Mix
- 2 brazen buttons
The mittens are made without using any pattern. It’s simply made of a chain 9 front loop ribbing doing for 19 rows forming a tube which I crocheted together with a sl st. The hand part is made of one first row of hdc followed by several rows of dc. I just put the mittens on from time to time to check when I have to start doing the thumb hole. I finished the mittens with one row of hdc and the last row made of sc. You don’t need a complicated stitch pattern when you are using multicolored yarn.
Star Wars: Yoda Amigurumi
For »Secret Santa« at our Christmas party at work I’ve got the name of the colleague that I’ve already had for last years Secret Santa. Star Wars fan – a piece of cake! I thought it would be the perfect excuse for finally buying the gorgeous Star Wars Crochet Kit (Amazon link) by Lucy Collin but it was sold out everywhere! So I needed to create my own Yoda
Pattern source: none – made by myself without taking notes -_-#
Material used:
- Woll Butt Lisa in Grün (Green), Beige and Schoko (Brown)
- 1 pair of 9 mm safety eyes (Amazon link)
- Fibre fill (Amazon link)
I’ve been using a 4.5 mm hook. Yoda’s head, body, ears and arms are simply made by doing sc stitches. The feet are made by using sc, hdc and dc stitches. I mixed up sc, hdc, dc and trc when doing the coat especially for shaping the hood. The belt is simply made by doing chains.
I really had to fight doing the coat. I wanted to make it real so you could undress Yoda. After working on his tiny coat for days with killing a lot of yarn I finally decided to keep it simple and sew the arms right onto the coat. The front part of the coat is sewn partly onto the body to make it fit better. At the end I’m quite happy with the result anyway. And my colleague is happy with his new woolly room mate, too. 🙂
I’ve got a Stormtrooper Candy Bowl Holder (Amazon link) from my Secret Santa. So the night has been full of Star Wars! ♡
Disney: Little Mermaid Ariel Amigurumi
I do remember watching The little Mermaid (Amazon link) at the beautiful movie theater in Karl-Marx-Straße in Berlin-Neukölln, Germany with it’s deep red velvet curtains, seats and floors. I must have been 8 years old as the movie was running in the theaters in 1990.
I fell in love with the lovely Disney princess patterns from Jana Whitley as they are absolutely adorable! You will find them for sale separately as well as a bundle on ravelry.

Lion Brand Yarn: Cute Gnome Amigurumi
I’ve found this super cute Gnome Amigurumi on the Lion Brand Yarn website. You can do this cute little fellow in one evening and it doesn’t need a lot of yarn so it could be a nice scrap-yarn-project, too. As it is super-easy, too it’s a a fun project for a crochet beginner as well. You only need to know how to do a foundation chain, single crochet, turning chains and how to crochet in the round for doing the arms and feet.

Boggle the Gumdrop Monster Amigurumi
Say hello to »Boogle the Gumdrop Monster« who is already in charge guarding the sweets box of our dear intern. This was a fun and quick birthday gift to crochet. As it doesn’t need a lot of yarn and can be done using different yarn weights, too it is a nice project to get rid of some stash yarn.
