Nexus 4 Mobile Cozy

A cozy home for the Nexus 4

A myboshi (Amazon link) mobile bag is going to be the first home for my new Nexus 4. As there are no fitting bags outside for the Nexus 4 yet I had to make one by myself. If you use up to three colors there is no need for a complicated stitch pattern. The crochet pattern is a piece of cake!

This pattern is for private use only. You are not allowed to sell this pattern. You may sell items in a small range made by using this pattern.

Material

You may use any other super bulky yarn as well as well as any three colors you like. It just should be similar to the weight of myboshi yarn.

  • Yarn in super bulky weight, hook size 7 mm in myboshi candy purpur, eisblau and titangrauI‘ve been using myboshi No. 1 made of 70% Acrylic and 30% Merino, length per skein about 55 meters.
  • Hook 7 mm (if you tend to crochet loosely go down one hook size)
  • Yarn needle for sewing and weaving in ends

Stitch Chart

ch chain
sc single crochet
sl slip stitch
hdc half double crochet

For the cozy you have to work in the round. Each round is closed by a slip stitch. Take care that you don’t work into the slip stitches while doing your rounds – better count your stitches from time to time as it always has to be 19 stitches. Don’t do the hdc’s in the “V” of the hdc’s the round before like you would usually do. Instead put the hook under the “V”, between two trebles and do your hdc. Just look at the photos in the top of this article to see where I’ve placed my hdc stitches.

Round 1: Ch 19, sl into first ch made to form a ring
*be careful not to twist your chain while closing it*
Round 2-10: Ch 2, hdc 19, sl into first hdc made (19)
*do the color change on the last hdc of each round when doing the last yarn over*
Round 11: Ch 1, sc 19, fasten off

Close the bottom by crocheting both parts together: Join yarn on one end and work enough sc to have a neat closing. Fasten off and weave in loose ends. Yay, your Nexus 4 has got a new home!

The size is made for fitting a Nexus 4 mobile phone – for any other device you simply have to customize the number of chains at the beginning as well as the total amount of rounds for the right height. If the chain can be put around your mobile phone you are ready to go!

My pattern is on ravelry, too! I’m happy if you link my pattern in your Nexus 4 mobile cozy project made by using this pattern. And maybe you would like to share a photo of your crochet mobile cozy on my facebook page, too? ♡
