Mason Jar panda bear cosy
And another birthday gift done. I’ve found the pattern on ravelry and really liked the idea of a candy filled jar with a sweet cosy to decorate it. As the donee is crazy for panda bears it had to be a black-white panda bear cosy. The jar itself is filled with three kinds of m&m’s: chocolate, crisp and peanuts. Yummy!

Flowery spring wreath or color explosion
»Goodbye Christmas wreath, hello spring wreath!« – As of idleness there has been hanging the same winter and Christmas themed wreath on our front door for quite some time. Well, years. We really needed to change it for something more suitable for spring and summer. And tadaaa: From now on there’s a little bee welcoming you in a sea of flowers!

Studio Ghibli: Totoro charm Amigurumi
After stalking a grass green bag by the brand Zwei in a shop window for several weeks I couldn’t resist when the shop offered a 20% discount sale. So here it is, my new Mademoiselle M14 (Amazon link)! But as it looked a bit too adult for my taste I needed to crochet a cute charm for it. Lucky me, I’ve found this adorable Totoro (Amazon link) pattern.

Wedding bouquet roses
I’m married! ♡ As my husband didn’t liked the idea of real flowers for a wedding bouquet – »You shouldn’t celebrate something that shall last a life time with something that is already dying.« – I decided to do a bouquet of crochet roses. Just a bit last minute but I’ve finished my 11 roses at 2am the day of our wedding.

Drachenwolle: Chevron lace cardigan
It’s the first time for me using hand dyed yarn which I had to wind up first to get a skein to work with. So gorgeous colors! I chose a project which needed the right amount of yarn to use up all of my three Drachenwolle hanks. It took me some time to find something else than shawls but at the end I finally found a cardigan with the perfect yardage.

Nintendo: Super Mario piranha plant Amigurumi
I’ve found a Piranha Plant pattern on ravelry some time ago and wanted to make this one since the very first time I saw it. As a friend was going to celebrate his 30th birthday it was the perfect time for finally making it as he loves Super Mario (Amazon link)!

First of all, this pattern has to be handled with care. The frustration potential is extremely high for several reasons: All in all the pattern instructions aren’t very clear most of the time, some things aren’t even noted as for example the neck part. »Roll up and sew.« – Okay, but how? On the photos you can see that the neck is more like a ball. After doing some photo research I’ve sewn the neck seams together forming a pipe and then closing the end parts forming a ball around the two pipe cleaners I wrapped around each other and put through stem and head. I’ve sewn it to the stem and head to fix it.
And here we go to the next problem: The stability. The plant is extremely top-heavy and two pipe cleaners weren’t stable enough to keep the head up. I’m sure that even three pipe cleaners wouldn’t be enough to keep it up. In a pinch I’ve just formed the stem like a »U« back behind and sew the lower third part onto the soil.
And last but not least the assembly order is completely unhandy. It’s way better to sew the plant parts together first, than sewing the plant onto the soil together with the two leafs. After all of that attach the soil to the pot to close it. Next time I would roll a piece of cardboard and put it into the pot to form a more pipe-like shape before filling it. To make the pot heavier and more stable I’ve put in some Cents on the bottom as my filling pellets weren’t heavy enough.
Twinkie Chan: Baby Groot Amigurumi
I believe there’s no one living on this planet who likes Guardians of the Galaxy (Amazon link) but dislikes Groot. He’s so adorable! And I’m so in love with Twinkie Chan’s crochet version of Baby Groot.
The pattern said to use fake moss for the grass but I didn’t found any nice fake moss. Therefor I simply crocheted a bunch of coils in different sizes and put it around Groot’s trunk. The plant pot is actually a candle glass that I’ve got during a Christmas sale.
