Chunky newsboy hat and fingerless mittens
My mom fell in love with the newsboy hat I made using Lumio yarn. Instead of translating the pattern into German I crocheted the chunky version for her so that she didn’t need to buy any bulky yarn. As one skein of Alaska River wasn’t enough for doing the hat I needed to buy a second skein. As I didn’t want to feed my giant stash I thought that a pair of mittens would make a nice set.
Pattern source: Chunky & Slouchy Newsboy Hat/Pattern 011 by Made by Erin
Material used:
- Four Seasons Gründl Alaska River (Amazon link) in 11 Raspberry Mix
- 2 brazen buttons
The mittens are made without using any pattern. It’s simply made of a chain 9 front loop ribbing doing for 19 rows forming a tube which I crocheted together with a sl st. The hand part is made of one first row of hdc followed by several rows of dc. I just put the mittens on from time to time to check when I have to start doing the thumb hole. I finished the mittens with one row of hdc and the last row made of sc. You don’t need a complicated stitch pattern when you are using multicolored yarn.
