Ood Egg Cozy

Little Ood, happy to serve you

This pattern is based on my Cthulhu Egg Cozy pattern. There are no wings of course but there is the trademark of each Ood – the white ball as well as some sleeves. This will be a nice gift for a Doctor Who (Amazon link) fan for sure!

This pattern is for private use only. You are not allowed to sell this pattern or items made by using it.

Material

The egg cozy made by using the materials listed below will fit an egg up to size XL.

  • Yarn in aran weight. I‘ve been using Gründl King Cotton (Amazon link) in red color »Weinrot« for doing the tentacle and in black for doing the shirt. For the head and arms I’ve been using Woll Butt Lisa in beige, for the ball in white.
  • Hook 5.5 mm
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends and assembly
  • 2 small buttons in black
  • Sewing needle to sew on the buttons
  • Sewing thread in black and red
  • Fiber fill for stuffing the ball, you can use white instead, too

Ball (White)

Start: Sc 4 in magic ring, pull tight to close ring (4)
Round 1: [inc] *sc, sc 2 in next st* rep (6)
Round 2: [dec] *sc2tog, sc* rep (4), Sl st to 1st st. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Stuff the ball either with fiber fill or with white yarn. Close the ball by pulling the yarn inside and out the 4 remaining stitches one time and pull tight. Attach the ball to the top of one arm, the closed opening showing down. After attaching the ball to the arm pull the needle which is still holding the yarn though the ball to make the your yarn end appear on the down side of the ball. Attach the yarn end in the middle of the tentacle area and secure it on the inside. Weave in all ends.

Assembly part done – just the eyes missing

This is where to add the loose end of the ball

Ood got eyes! – Later I decided to use some red sewing thread for the eyes, too.

My pattern is on ravelry, too! I’m happy if you link my pattern in your egg cozy project made by using this pattern. And maybe you would like to share a photo of your crochet egg cozy on my facebook page, too? ♡
